Graphic & Print Designer
I’m a Graphic and Print Designer located in Iowa City.
In 2018 I graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Studio Arts. While earning my degree I worked in a consumer facing print shop. Since graduation I’ve designed graphics and print materials for various businesses around Iowa City. Currently, I'm a Graphic Designer for a business-to-business marketing and print company.
There's More to Print Design Than Creating Graphics
You have to know how to add cut lines. You have to understand when to add bleed. You have to be able to extract information and impose it as variable data.
Print Design is My Passion
In the world of printing, we blend cyan, yellow, magenta, and black inks to produce a full spectrum of colors. However, when a designer prints using only black ink, the result can appear lackluster. To achieve a richer black, some opt to use all four inks. But here’s the catch: if the printer isn’t perfectly calibrated, you might encounter misregistration—a blurry effect caused by colors not aligning precisely. Inspired by this phenomenon, I incorporated a touch of print design into my logo. By intentionally creating my logo with misregistration, I echo the idea that mastering the rules allows for artistic rule-breaking, as famously stated by Picasso: ‘Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist."
